Streethay Parish Council Hosts Successful Annual Meeting of the Parish
Streethay Parish Council welcomed around 40 residents to its Annual Meeting of the Parish, held on Thursday 30th April at the 1085 Restaurant within Blackberry Court Retirement Community.
Chair of the Parish Council, Cllr Harry Warburton, provided an overview of the Council’s activities over the past year, highlighting a range of successful community engagement initiatives. These included community litter picking events in collaboration with Lichfield Litter Legends, a football event supported by AFC Fradley, and an environmental planting project using resources donated by the Woodland Trust.
The evening also celebrated the winners of the Parish’s Spring Competition, which saw excellent community engagement with over 180 entries. Winners were invited to collect their prizes on the night.
Community champions were recognised through the Community Contribution Awards. Awards were presented for Young Person of the Year, Local Business Contribution, and Green Champion, recognising individuals and organisations who have made a positive impact within the Streethay community.
In addition, a £500 Community Grant was awarded to Blackberry Court Retirement Community. The funding will support minibus transport, enabling residents with limited mobility to enjoy day trips and social outings. Councillors noted the high number and quality of grant applications received this year, making the selection process particularly challenging.
District and County Councillor Richard Holland provided an update on Lichfield District Council activities. Following the recent award of £500,000 in Community Infrastructure Funding, Chief Executive Simon Fletcher outlined the proposed timeline for the delivery of the Streethay Community Centre, with construction expected to begin by the end of the year. Cllr Clare Booker also introduced herself to residents.
Attendees enjoyed complimentary coffee and cake, contributing to a warm and welcoming atmosphere that brought residents together from across the community.
