Hello, I’m Jennifer Hutchinson. I was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, to Jamaican parents, and moved to Birmingham in 1986
I chose to settle in Lichfield because it reminds me of my Yorkshire roots – welcoming people, historic streets, and a strong community spirit built around independent local businesses.
With a career grounded in the public sector, I have worked extensively in social housing—across both local authorities and the private sector—focusing on homelessness prevention and securing safe, stable accommodation for those in need. This work has shaped my deep commitment to tackling local housing challenges and supporting vulnerable residents in Stafford.
I also serve as a Trade Union Representative, advocating for workers’ rights across both public and private sectors. My experience spans business and community development, and I bring a confident, approachable, and solutions-focused style to everything I do. I believe in listening carefully, communicating clearly, and building strong relationships to get things done.
As the Founder and CEO of The Ujima Partnership CLG, a social enterprise dedicated to empowering local communities, I’ve led the creation of a Warm Welcome Hub—a safe, inclusive space offering warmth, guidance, and support during the cost-of-living crisis. This initiative reflects my values: practical action, compassion, and community-driven change.
